fay's story

I was involved in an accident in October 2008 while working as a community care and support worker. I broke my foot in four places and my car was a write off. I was only working that evening as a favour for my manager.

I was told by my manager that as I was working and in uniform I would be paid in full whilst I was off work.

Unfortunately this was not the case, and when my pay slip arrived I was only getting statutory sick pay. The company I was working for just didn't want to know.

Just before Christmas I was at Stroud Christian Fellowship on a Sunday morning, I was singing praise songs but at the same time feeling very bitter and very worried I was thinking bad thoughts about my manager, and looking at all I had lost. We had no money for food or anything for Christmas.

I suddenly felt a nudge from the Lord. He told me to stop looking at what I had lost and to look at what I had. He told me to stop worrying and that He would provide, he said He had got me through troubles and He would get me through this.

I looked at my life and I realised just how much I have, a great family, good friends, a church family who love me and a loving God. I realised just how rich I was.

At our Carol Concert later that week, there were two envelopes addressed to me, one had a Tesco voucher in it for £50 from the church, the other one had £100 in it but no signature. For the next three months gifts of money were being sent to us. I don't know who sent the money, but I do know it was the Lord who put the idea in these people's hearts.

God told me he would provide, and He did. Thank you Lord - You too can put your trust in Him
